the event
On the morning of September 11, 2001, four specific planes took off from Boston, Massachusetts, Newark, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. All of these planes were taken over by 19 hijackers in total. These planes were then flown towards major sites such as the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center In New York, the Pentagon, and one crash-landed in Pennsylvania as the passengers attempted to subdue the hijackers, and control of the plane was lost. This plane did, however, seem as if it was en route to Washington D.C. Four hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the World Trade Center's North Tower at 8:46 in the morning, and at 9:03 in the morning, five more crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower. Then, at 9:37 in the morning, five hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon. At 10:03 in the morning, United Airlines Flight 93 crash-landed in Pennsylvania. We had confirmed years ago that these attackers were members of the al-Qeada terrorist group, under the command of Osama bin Laden.
effects
The deaths of 2,996 people was caused in these attacks, including those of the 19 hijackers. These casualties included those who were in the. This attack changed the world in one of the most drastic ways ever seen. American security was taken much more seriously at home, and other countries followed suit, as none of them wanted this same type of travesty happening to them. The reason why you have to go through so many official and technical things before you are able to board a plane, is to prevent further events such as what happened on the morning of September 11. We were a new country. Our eyes had been opened. The couple decades of relative innocence and peace were over, and we had a new conflict on our hands.
Reaction
The emotions of American citizens was a mixed, twisted, and unclear thing. People were devastated, they were angry, they were sorrowful, they were confused, and a lot of people were even patriotic, and wanted to go to war with whoever did this to so many innocent people. President George Bush gave a speech with a bullhorn on the rubble and remains of one of the towers, saying thank you to all those firefighters, police officers, and just regular men and women who put their lives at risk to save people in the building, and also saying that we will find who did this to us, and justice will be served.
